The Oath of the Vayuputras

The Oath of the Vayuputras

'The Oath of the Vayuputras' is the third and final installment of the Shiva trilogy. The first book in the series is 'The Immortals of Meluha'

The story continues from where it was left in Book 2-' The Secret of the Nagas.'

Shiva can finally conclude what is evil and goes ahead with the plan of annihilating it. To execute his mission successfully, he needs support from many. Based on morals and beliefs, people decide on the side they should take. Although Shiva has support from Sati, his sons - Karthik and Ganesha, and many of his ardent followers, Shiva needs support from the Vayuputras to ensure that he achieves the desired result.

As Shiva takes on his journey to the distant land where the Vayuputras reside, the war continues in different parts of India. Both sides plan and execute their war strategies. When Shiva is almost at the point of winning the war, an unfortunate event brings everything to a standstill. This turning point in the story breaks Shiva from within, but he nevertheless completes the task. The author doesn't end the story with the end of the war but much beyond that, taking the reader through Shiva's life's journey.

This one seemed to be a very long book, wherein the author has gone into great detail, describing the war plan and strategies, making it sometimes tedious for the reader. However, the author has successfully stitched the pieces of the story, doing complete justice to each character, and has brought about an epic with a beautiful storyline that evokes various emotions in the reader's minds, tying them to the book till the end.
